The Gorgeous Saintes

As we were wandering earlier, Joy had spotted a restaurant on the waterfront she thought might more than make up for the nasty experience we just left behind. We walked to the other end of Terre de Haut and found a tiny little alleyway, just wide enough for Joy’s scooter, that led to the Triangle restaurant. Their outside deck was situated right on the water with a stunning view of the bay and the ocean beyond. As it was a little late, we asked if they were still serving lunch, and we were welcomed and helped to the best seat in the house.

The staff here went above and beyond to see that our experience was delightful. Isn’t that how it’s supposed to be? Everything about Le Triangle Restaurant is perfect, and we recommend it to anyone. Saintes630
After lunch we ventured into some of the shops along the waterfront in search of gifts and island clothing. None of the storekeepers pressured you to buy, but they were right at hand to answer questions or to help search for a particular item we couldn’t find. We’d noticed one shop in particular, Mahogany, that stood out from the rest as many of the items were hand crafted, the clothing hand made, and the decor distinctly different. We’d passed it up earlier thinking it to be out of our price range, but on the way back to the dinghy, we decided, what could it hurt to ask? As it turned out, the owner spoke fluent English, and as she showed us several items, we discovered the prices to be quite reasonable, enough so that we both bought very nice shirts there. Once again we realized it never hurts to be friendly and outgoing, and the rewards are often nothing short of amazing .

See how easy it is to wander around Terre-de-Haut? What a beautiful little town this is. Downtown is off limits to cars for much of the day as it is very crowded with people walking to and fro. Flowers everywhere; smiles are worn like they actually belong on one’s face. Crime is all but non-existent, and should something nefarious occur, the perpetrator is not tolerated. We really like this island and plan to visit again spending even more time here.
