Prelude to the Classic Yacht Regatta

The Fates shined on us because we managed to anchor in almost the same location as previously in Falmouth Harbor. When we raised anchor a week or so earlier for our trip to Nonsuch Bay, our chain was completely fouled; Gary and Patti, about 100 yards behind us, had clean chain. So guess where we anchored! With a perfect view of many of the classic vessels.

Joe and Casey McClash were due to arrive on April 15th; what a way to escape that dreaded day! We had just enough time to do laundry, shopping, and various chores. We’d learned that the little store in English Harbor had just about the same prices as the bigger stores in St. Johns, though the selection was smaller. No big deal as they had what we needed.

The day after Joe and Casey arrived we wandered over to English Harbor for lunch at the Admiral’s Inn. This building was completed in 1788 and was originally used to store equipment and supplies, and for offices for the engineers of the Dockyard upstairs. It has been extensively restored and is a perfect hotel and restaurant. We sat close to the water enjoying a wonderful lunch as we talked about upcoming events.
